July 1795." on front fly-leaf, contemporary sheep, upper hinge detached. A handbook written at the commencement of the Napoleonic wars on the organisation and structure of military discipline in the British army written by an officer of the Loyal Essex Regiment of Fencible Infantry. Divided into two parts, the first 'treats of the duty of officers in camp, garrison and quarters, particularly designed for the use of young officers unacquainted with the service,.....'. The second is on the 'discipline of a regiment, comprising the new orders for drilling the men, field exercise and review.'
