Westminster: Nichols and Sons, First edition, folio (380 x 270 mm), x, 210, [2], xxxvipp., title in red and black, 8 mounted albumen prints (145 x 200 mm) by John Cruttenden of Maidstone, lithographic plan hand-coloured outline, double-page pedigree and double-page facsimile letter, original publishers red cloth, bevelled boards, title in gilt on upper cover. Leeds Castle was the country seat of Charles Wykeham Martin (1801-1870), an English Conservative Party politician who sat in the House of Commons in three periods between 1841 and 1870. Cruttenden had exhibited two of his images of Leeds Castle at the Photographic Society's 1861 Exhibition. Sale advertisement dated May 3rd 1921, when the Wykeham family sold up, pasted in.
