Haugh was accused of conduct unbecoming by Captain Barton who proffered charges such as 'being in the Officers's Picquet Room... in plain clothes, smoaking and drinking' and drunken behaviour. The court acquitted Haugh and expressed 'surprise and disapprobation' for Barton's 'personal insult to the prisoner'.
