Colonel Stuart Wortley (1832-1890) played a pivotal role in the early history of British photography as an innovator, promoter, and practitioner of the medium. He provides the preface in which he thanks Lady Brassey, a much travelled lady a lover of Tahiti, for providing the letterpress to this book. Provenance: Lealholm Lodge Library with bookplate.
